Here is an interactive area and perimeter bulletin board we put up last week.
The students draw a rectangle on graph paper. Under the shape they asked "What is the perimeter of this rectangle?" and "What is the area of this rectangle?"
Then they figured out the area and perimeter and wrote the answers on an index card.
We displayed the work in the hallway. The answers went in a library pocket.
People in the hallway can now stop and figure out the area and perimeter. Then they can check the index card to see if they are correct.
The students also wrote a card explaining the how they figured out the area and perimeter of their shapes.
