Make a chart, or have students make their own, with seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years, decades, and centuries at the top. As a group, have the students come up with things that would be most appropriately measured in these time units. Make the goal to be 5 of each or something like that. Talk about why you would measure each event using the unit that the class picked.
