A rep-tile is a small shape (a tile) that, when grouped with more of the same shape, can combine to create the same shape, only larger. For example, four equilateral triangles can go together to make a larger one. Using premade tesselations or shapes, have the students create larger shapes by using some of the same shape. Next, have them try to create their own rep-tiles to make larger shapes.
