Using graph paper, have student draw a regular shape of their choice. First have them figure out the perimeter and area of the shape and write it down. Then, over top of the existing shape, have them double all line dimensions using a different color. Have them figure out the perimeter and area. Discuss how they have changed and try to come up with a rule for what happens to them. Try it again with different shapes to test your rules.
