Let your students make their own bead necklace, but not before doing a little estimating. Put all the beads in a large container. Have the class extimate the total number of beads. Give each student a smaller container, all roughly the same size. Fill one with beads and let a volunteer count them. Have studetns estimate how many times the smaller container could be filled and another estimate for the total number of beads. Fill each students small container with beads and let them count them. Tally the results adding any remaining beads. Compare to their estimates. Give them some string and let them create their necklace.
