Get some pictures of different roller coasters with supports with sections - wooden roller coasters are good for this. Make up a measurement for each section of the support girders and have the students calculate how high the various hills are for each roller coaster. You can also talk about angles in the supports and make predictions about which roller coaster would be faster based on the height and the angle of the hills.
