The object of this exercise is to work with the number 1,000,000. This would be a good exercise to utilize a 'Penny Drive' with - have the children bring in and collect pennies until they have 1 million and then donate to a charity. This gives a concrete example of what 1 million looks like. To make one million, have the children figure out, by repeated addition or multiplication, how to create 1 million with units of ten, one hundred, and one thousand.
