Use the students themselves to model fractions and decimals. Say either a fraction or decimal out loud, something like, "I need one tenth of the class, please." The class must then figure out how many students need to go to the front of the room. You could also show cards with the fractions/decimals written on them or write them on the board if they need practice reading the numbers. Use a good mix of reduced and unreduced fractions as well as decimals. Be sure the correct answer is a whole number, no mixed fractions or they would need to divide their friends into pieces.
