My daughter's kindergarten teacher has an activity set up with muffin pans but I think you could also probably use egg cartons. She'll include a set of small objects like marbles, buttons, or beans, and then have the children group the objects by 2,3,4,5, etc., using the muffins to help the kids keep the grouped objects separate.
