Not only helpful in using time measurement, but an excellent real world skill as well. Make many recipe cards that include a food dish and the time it takes to prepare it. You also need a clock for this exercise. Each student or group of students should chose a few or several meal cards. Then, by comparing the amount of time needed for each one, they have to figure out when each dish should be started in order to get them all done at the same time. This is a great idea for estimation of time, actual calculation regarding time. You can make it more difficult by having them estimate how much time preperation before cooking would take and only give concrete times for cooking (much like a real recipe does.)
