[b:82c22d6e4f]Describes a pattern rule.[/b:82c22d6e4f] Patterns may be easier to learn at this level by first using colors and then slowly incorporting numbers into the pattern. For example, have the children form patterns with square shapes of different colors (use construction paper)...a typical pattern may be blue square, red square, yellow square, repeated several times. After they have done this. Substitute numbers into each square. One for Red, Two for Blue, 3 for Yellow. Mark the squares with each number. Show them the pattern the they make (Each square should now have a number and form a pattern).
Exercise for patterns.
